Hey guys! Hope you are doing well. As you know, I went on a small trip to Copenhagen – to visit a friend and to have a little break from everything. I really needed a small vacation and change of surroundings, in order to energise myself with good mental energy and get recharged by great experience and new discoveries. <3 In this post I will shortly tell you about my trip, what we did, where we went and what my overall opinion about the city is.
Pretty, pretty Copenhagen
The capital of Denmark is really impressive. Once I step there, I can totally feel the vibe of the big city. As I have been living in a much smaller city during the last 5 years, Copenhagen seems so huge to me that I can easily get lost. I love the hustle and bustle, the people, the cultural diversity and the pretty architecture of the city. Denmark has a breathtaking architecture everywhere in the country. Especially the small cities, have their own charm, reminding of Hans Christian Andersens’ tales. I find Copenhagen impressive, due to its big size, where the architecture is really noticeable. I love the way they keep the charm of the city and even though it is a very modern capital, the design of the buildings is pretty much kept traditional.
What feels really freeing is the big streets and town squares, full of people, music and cultures. I like this lively vibe and it makes me really positive and energetic.
All in all I find Copenhagen incredibly beautiful and even overwhelming sometimes. I would definitely love to visit more often, but for now, I don’t really feel like moving to live there, even though the opportunities are much bigger.
Shopping, coffee, nightlife
Copenhagen is great, when it comes to places to shop, drink coffee or eat something sweet. The main shopping street – “Strøget” is full of all kind of stores – clothing, makeup, electronics, etc. They have the two big shopping centers – Illum and Magasin. Illum is a bit more exclusive and expensive, while Magasin offers a huge variety of brands and products, affordable for most. I loved both, as we don’t have them in Aalborg, but luckily we will have Magasin in 2018. <3
I love walking on “Strøget”, because of the good vibe and many shops, but I would say that it is a bit too crowded sometimes, especially during the weekend. I don’t like to have to crash into people constantly and not be able to calmly look around and find what I need. With this huge crowd, that reminds a carnival, could sometimes be impossible not to get irritated. But in week days, during working hours, the place is great to shop or get a cup of coffee in the heart of Copenhagen. There are endless possibilities for eating or just grabbing a cup of coffee – something that I really love and sometimes miss in Aalborg. We have quite the cafés, but not as many to choose from. The diversity and the uniqueness in each single café in Copenhagen is something that I find really impressive.
Me and my friend Eva, who was the best host ever – walking me through Cph and allowing me to crash her place, had a cup of coffee in the middle of Strøget and I had the yummiest ever butter bun. I don’t know what kind of bread it was, but it smelled and tasted like butter. Nom nom nom! Danes are famous with their bakeries and one of my favourite danish things are their desserts and bakery stuff. Absolutely delicious. If you are ever visiting Denmark – definitely look for a good bakery and try something out.
KOA Bar – the best restaurant I have been in lately
Friday night, me and my friend, decided to eat dinner outside and have a girls night out.
We ended up, trying out KOA Bar which is located in the heart of the city. It is a very good looking restaurant, with amazing interior and really good service. The most impressive part though was the menu – amazing Italian kitchen and the chefs did a great work. Everything was really yummy and the service was at a really high level.
And we seriously had the best wine I have ever tasted. A perfect blend between fruity and dry. I don’t like wines that are too sour and leave that awful taste in your mouth after that, as well as too sweet wines. This one was really good and I seriously need to research what brand it was, so I can get it if possible.
We had a great time there and I really felt good, spending time with a friend I don’t see that often, finally being able to catch up and in the same time having a delicious food. <3 After the dinner we went to a very exclusive night champagne bar, which I fell in love with. Atmosphere, menu, style… Everything was just great. Unfortunately I don’t have pictures due to the dark light, but if you have the opportunity check out Balthazar – a really great bar to have a cocktail or whatever drink.
I will come back again, Copenhagen
I had a great trip and it was exactly what I needed. I came back to Aalborg absolutely recharged and full of great memories and positive thoughts. I will definitely visit again, as 3 days is definitely not enough to do or see everything there. It is a big city and I definitely need to go there again. I love those small trips, that even though for just few days, give you so much! <3 Already thinking where to go next, when I have the opportunity.
That’s it for now, guys, Hope you enjoyed reading the post. Thanks for stopping by and talk to you soon.
Much love <3
